How to create a room and invite friends in HabitRix

What do I need to create a room?

To create a room, you need the HabitRix app and a sign-in. On Android, sign in with Google. On iPhone, sign in with Google or Apple. The sign-in lets every member see the same room.

Start free with your first room. On Android, the free plan includes 1 room, created or joined. On iPhone, it includes 1 group that you own and 1 group that you join. HabitRix Pro unlocks unlimited rooms. See Free vs Pro.

How do I create a room?

To create a room, open the sharing tab, sign in, and give the room a habit name and your display name. Android calls it a “room”. iPhone calls it a “group”.

On Android

1. Open the Habit Share tab at the bottom of the screen.
2. If the app asks you to sign in, tap Continue with Google.
3. Tap the + button at the bottom right.
4. In Habit Name, type the shared habit, for example “Morning run”.
5. In Your Display Name, type the name that other members will see.
6. Tap Create.

On iPhone

1. Open the Community tab.
2. If the app asks you to sign in, sign in with Google or Apple.
3. Tap Create a Group. If you already have groups, tap New habit.
4. In Group name, type the shared habit, for example “Morning run”.
5. In Your display name, type the name that other members will see.
6. Tap Create Group.

How do I invite friends to my room?

To invite friends, send them the room’s invite link or its 6-character code. The link opens HabitRix on their phone. If they need the app first, the link shows the code and a download link.

On Android

1. Open the Habit Share tab.
2. On the room card, tap the share icon.
3. HabitRix copies the invite link and opens the share menu.
4. Choose a chat app, and send the link.

The invite code is the last 6 characters of the link. For example, the code for habitshare.app/r/K7Q2XA is K7Q2XA.

On iPhone

1. After you create the group, HabitRix shows the invite code.
2. Tap Share Invite to send the link, or tap Copy Code or Copy Link.
3. To invite people later, tap Invite at the top of the Community tab. Choose the group, then tap Send Invite.

You can also open the group and tap Invite people.

What happens when a friend joins?

When a friend joins, the friend appears in the room, and the other members get a notification. Each member then checks in for today with one tap. When a member checks in, the others get a notification such as “✅ Sam completed their habit!”.

Every member sees the activity grid of each member, the total days done, and who checked in today. A leaderboard ranks the members. Your friends follow the steps in Join a room with an invite code.

Good to know

• One room, one shared habit. Each member marks today as done with one tap. For weekly or several-times-a-day goals, use a personal habit.
• Each member checks in for themselves, for today. This keeps the room honest and the leaderboard fair.
• Invite the people you trust. The invite code keeps working as long as the room exists, and one code works for everyone.
• The owner manages the room. As the owner, you can delete the room for everyone. See Leave or delete a room.
• Keep talking in your usual chat app. Send the invite there, and cheer each other on there.
